{ Easter Decorations... }

 

Materials
- 2 mm Crochet Hook
- 100 % cotton yarn for a 2.00 mm hook (8/4 - Fingering)
- Tapestry needle
- Polyfiber fill  
- Dry branches and a vase
- Golden embroidery thread to hang the decorations (optional)
 
Colors: Use all those leftovers you have around the house!
 
Abbreviations
st = stitch
ch = chain
slst = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
 
 
 
Shall we begin?


Bunny (body and head)
Using the color of your choice… Who said Easter bunnies can’t be lilac?
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)
4. to 7. Crochet 18 sc
8. Crochet 2 sc, one decrease, *4 sc, one decrease*, repeat * twice, 2 sc (15)
9. Crochet 15 sc
Start stuffing the body…
10. Crochet *3 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (12)
11. and 12. Crochet 12 sc
13. Crochet 2 sc in each st (24)
14. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (36)

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends. 
With a bit of black yarn, embroider the eyes and, with pink yarn, embroider the snout. 
 
Ears
Make two, using the color of your choice…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12) 
3. to 11. Crochet 12 sc
12. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 6 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches.
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew the ears to the head. Curve them and then sew them in place.
 
Tail
Using the color of your choice…
1. Magic ring of 5 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (10) 
3. Crochet 10 sc
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the body.
No need to stuff. Sew it to the back of your bunny.
 

Carrot
Using orange (or similar)…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)

5. Only through back loops, crochet 24 sc

Start stuffing…
15. Crochet 1 sc, one decrease, *2 sc, one decrease*, repeat * 3 times, 1 sc (12)

Long leaf
Using green (or whatever!)…
1. Chain 11 ch stitches. Starting from the second ch from hook, crochet 1 sc into each chain stitch (10). 
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the carrot.
 
Short leaf
Using green (or whatever!)…
1. Chain 7 ch stitches. Starting from the second ch from hook, crochet 1 sc into each chain stitch (6). 
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the carrot.
 
* Now sew both leaves to the carrot and weave in ends.
 
 

Chicken
Starting with white…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)
4. Crochet 1 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * 5 times, 1 sc (24)
5. Crochet *3 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (30)
6. and 7. Crochet 30 sc
8. Only through front loops, crochet 30 sc
9. Crochet *1 slst, 1 hdc + 1 dc + 1 hdc all in the same st, 1 slst*, repeat 10 times.
Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.
 
Insert the yellow yarn in one of the remaining back loops of round 8…
10. Crochet 1 sc into each front loop (30)
11. to 14. Crochet 30 sc
15. Crochet *3 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (24)
16. to 20. Crochet 24 sc
21. Crochet *2 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (18)
Stuff firmly...

Feather 1
Using yellow…

Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the head of the chicken.
 
Feather 2
Using yellow…
1. Chain 4 ch stitches. Starting from the second ch from hook, crochet 1 sc into each chain stitch (4). 
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the head of the chicken.
 
Wings
Make two, using yellow…
1. Chain 5 ch stitches. Starting from the second ch from hook, crochet 1 slst, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc. 
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the sides of the body of your chicken.
 
Beak
Using orange…
1. Chain 3 ch stitches. Starting from the second ch from hook, crochet 1 sc into each chain stitch (2). 
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the face of the chicken.
 
* Sew the feathers to the head of your chicken
* Sew the wings to the sides of the body
* Sew the beak in between the eyes.
* Weave in all ends.
 

Egg
Using the color of your choice. These eggs can be single color, or with stripes, or a mixture of 2 colors…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. Crochet *3 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (15)
4. Crochet 2 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *4 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * twice, 2 sc (18)

Once you’ve done all the decorations you want,  tie them with a bit of golden embroidery thread, place the branches on a vase and hang the decoration!
